Why is the red state Texas creating jobs and running a surplus?

Every blue state is a fiscal disaster but red states are prospering. Texas has created more jobs than every blue state combined and running a surplus. New York, and California are in huge holes. Why is this? Why do conservative leaders do so good compared to Democrats?
